Peace Advocate Program
The Peace Advocate Program is a dynamic and empowering initiative designed to equip young people with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become effective advocates for peace within their communities and beyond. Each term six (6) students from each of the six (6) participating schools will be selected as ‘Peace Advocates’ (36 students per term). The program aims to inspire action. The advocates will take what they have learnt, their passion for social change and apply it to their everyday lives and in the wider community. The selection of the 36 Peace Advocates each term will be a shared responsibility between the NRL program facilitator and the school teacher lead using the criteria below.
Each term, Peace Advocates will attend a 4-hour workshop focussed on further cultivating understanding themselves, self-confidence, leadership, conflict resolution, positive peace building and advocacy skills through both education and practical experiences including scenario-based group activities co-designed by the NRL and Institute for Economics and Peace. Participants will have the opportunity to work with advocates from different schools to discuss the needs and opportunities in their school communities.
Advocates are mentored through hands on experiences including; projects involving event management, refereeing, coaching, Harmony Walks, creative arts and digital cohesion initiatives.
The program will connect the advocates with expert partners and community services that will assist the young people in achieving their game changer goals.

Peace Advocate Eligibility
Peace Advocate Selection Criteria:- Actively participated in the In League in Harmony program throughout the term.
- Demonstrated respect for and desire to understand different cultures, values, and perspectives.
- Exhibits leadership qualities or the potential and desire to develop these skills.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills including the ability to engage in constructive dialogue with diverse groups.
