The Maroons restored some pride following their victory and also avoided a series clean sweep. Here's how we rated their 17 at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.
Billy Slater: Could have done little more in his farewell game. Just the slightest bobble from scoring the first try from a DCE kick early, got outside of Latrell Mitchell for Queensland's second try and had 17 runs (145m). Outstanding again. 9/10
Valentine Holmes: Two telling plays, and very good in between. Picked off Tedesco's pass for 90m try early in the match, great finish for his second try with little to do. Pulled off the play of the game with three minutes to go when he hurled himself to pull in a Maloney pass when the Maroons were on red alert. 8.5
Dane Gagai: Had a great battle with James Roberts, neither player gave the other anything in a stalemate for much of the game. Big play when needed to smother a Cleary grubber late and made four tackle busts and some crucial defence. 7.5
Will Chambers: Some deft touches for a centre who'd been under pressure and gave Latrell Mitchell little peace. He lifted when the game was on the line with some key hits. 7
Corey Oates: Took the ball up with normal zest (141m from 15 carries) but costly error midway through the second half when he coughed up the ball but luckily a silly Klemmer error (tripping Hunt) saved him. Then coughed it up again next carry. 5
Cameron Munster: Was the perfect deputy for DCE in first half but his intercept pass for Tommy Turbo's try set Queensland on their heels after dominating until then. Made amends with his stepping run that set up DCE's try in the second half, and kept coming at the Blues with the ball. His best display of the series. 8
Daly Cherry-Evans: Gave the Maroons the control and direction they'd been wanting. His kicking game tortured the Blues in the first half; sent a good pass to get Slater on outside for Holmes try then topped off a five-star performance with a try. One kick that went dead and strip of Mitchell his only negative plays. 9
Jai Arrow: Came of age. Everything he did was quality, starting as prop. Thirteen runs for 105m in his 45 minutes, and some defence in tight was crucial. 7.5
Andrew McCullough: Only played 30 minutes in the first half before Ben Hunt took over but was good while there, sometimes drifting to first receiver. 6
Josh Papalii Gave his team grunt early, running for 80m in his first five runs but didn't punch holes like he can and didn't get a lot of game time. 7
Gavin Cooper: Absolutely tireless; 20 hit ups for 131m and 31 tackles, and sent the final pass for Cherry Evan try. Unsung hero of the victory. 8
Felise Kaufusi: Constant threat on the right edge to Maloney and Cordner and very solid in defence, topping the tackle count with 34. 8
Josh McGuire: Tremendous first half with the biggest workload of the Maroons forwards, then came on for the final quarter and did not shirk a thing, making some telling tackles on the try-line. 7.5
Ben Hunt:This is his spot in Origin. Just good selection with his passing, when to run, when to kick and a tiger in defence. 7.5
Jarrod Wallace: Worked hard but again didn't make an impact and only saw half an hour of game time. Failed to jam in on Tedesco just on half-time for a crucial try at that moment. 6
Coen Hess: Just did his job without breaking the line but was reliable and muscled up when his team needed him to and carried the ball when they needed a tough carry. 7
Tim Glasby: Didn't get into the action until the second half but was reliable and solid, which is him. That's what he was there for. 6
