The Melbourne Storm have shown themselves to be masters of the close victory in 2018, proving it again in their enthralling finals battle with the Rabbitohs.
Friday night's 29-28 victory was their fifth by two points or less this season, following wins against the Cowboys, Roosters, Sea Eagles and Titans.
And should their semi-final go down to the wire, the defending premiers can choose between Cameron Smith, Brodie Croft and Cameron Munster, who have all kicked at least one field goal this year.
Senior forward Dale Finucane says the Storm's range of options could leave opponents guessing who to target.
"It's all pretty unknown," he said of their No.1 drop-goal choice.
"Obviously we've had Brodie Croft kick a field goal for us, Cam Smith's kicked one and Cameron (Munster) kicked one on the weekend. It's good that other teams can't attack one player when they know they don't know who is going to kick the ball."
The 27-year-old lock was a stand-out for the men in purple against the Bunnies, making 39 tackles to go with 148 running metres and 16 carries.
Felise Kaufusi played his best game of the year on Friday night, with 40 tackles and an intensity not seen in his NRL career.
And Christian Welch, one of the Storm's most improved performers, didn't let up either with a bruising defensive effort.
"A big defining moment of the game was Felise with his big shot on Sam Burgess that he had, jolting the ball free," Finucane said.
Kaufusi.
"He had a really good game defensively and in attack. And Christian is someone who has improved a lot this year. He's taken on a bigger role in the team, where he is playing longer minutes more consistently."
The Storm will enjoy their week off and can select from a fully fit squad, with Finucane confirming the Nelson Asofa-Solomona will be available for their semi-final against the Sharks or Panthers.
"Given the physicality of the game, the week off is really important for us," he said.
"And I know it is quite a long time ago, our Origin boys really need the rest."
