Broncos five-eighth Jack Bird.

The Broncos may have made an early exit in the 2018 finals series but they're among the competition favourites in 2019.

They boast a host of young forwards on the rise, a halves duo with another season under their belt and Jack Bird still seeming like a fresh recruit after a long stint on the sidelines through injury.

That room for improvement is great news for their Fantasy prospects, with some bargains on offer if they get decent playing time this season.

Here are three Broncos players worth looking at for your Fantasy team:

David Fifita

Born in the year 2000, Fifita is one of the most promising big men in the league and among the most hyped of Brisbane's new guard. He played 11 games in 2018, including four starts in the second row, averaging 48 minutes and 39 Fantasy points per game.

He played more than 50 minutes five times, including in the opening week of the finals, and averaged an excellent 51 points in those matches. (He averaged just 30 points in games when he played less than 50 minutes.)

So, game time is the key for Fifita's Fantasy scoring, and he could be one of the winners to come from the exit of Test lock Josh McGuire to the Cowboys.

Fellow young forwards Tevita Pangai jnr, Joe Ofahengaue and Payne Haas could also capitalise on the extra game time following McGuire's departure.

Kotoni Staggs

Another young gun at the club, Staggs had limited minutes in 2018 with one game at centre and the rest coming off the bench. His season Fantasy average was a mediocre 20.6, but in his only two appearances when he played more than 30 minutes he scored 48 and 34.

Like Fifita, Staggs's Fantasy value will come down to opportunities – the Broncos have lost three key forwards in Sam Thaiday, Josh McGuire and Korbin Sims but will welcome back Matt Gillett and Payne Haas and have signed former Fantasy gun Shaun Fensom, while the returning Jack Bird is set to partner James Roberts in the centres.

That means Staggs will likely be relying on injuries but if he gets his shot and scores anything more than 30 points a game he'd be an excellent cash cow.

Jack Bird

Bird's first season as a Bronco was underwhelming, even before the injury that ended his season after round 10. He played four games in the halves and four in the centres, averaging about 21 Fantasy points a game in both positions.

That's the bad news. The good news is he comes cheap (the fact he played fewer than 10 games means his break even will be around 20) and he has a solid Fantasy record during his time at Cronulla, where he averaged 46.5 in 2015, 25.5 in 2016 and 33.1 in 2017.

Like Staggs, if Bird can make a 10-point leap into the 30s in 2018 he'd be worth having as a cash cow even if he doesn't quite match his 2015 scores.
