Robinson tips Mitchell to bounce back to his best

Trent Robinson hasn't felt the need to say or do anything extra with Latrell Mitchell this week, claiming the prodigious centre has returned to clubland with the same positive attitude he's had all year.

After being granted permission to get out of Sydney for a short break at home with his family, Mitchell returned to training this week to prepare for the Roosters' clash with the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Mitchell copped his share of criticism after his uncharacteristically quiet Origin performance, but Robinson told the 21-year-old to ignore what had been said and to stay focused on his performances for the Roosters.

"There's been a lot of outside talk but in here he's been the same," Robinson said on Saturday.

"We've gone through what you do as a coach and a player and the support that a player needs at this time.

"The criticism is a part of being a sportsman, a much loved sportsman. My thing is to not ever will away the talk about you because it means that you're doing something right as well.

"People will have an opinion and are interested in how you're going. But in the end it doesn't matter what people say in between, it's what you do in that next 80 minutes.

"Our focus this week has been on a performance tomorrow and him doing his job."

There's been speculation throughout the week that Boyd Cordner may be rested before Origin game two because of an ongoing ankle injury.

But Robinson was quick to put those rumours to bed after the skipper proved at training he's fit to play.

"He'll be ready to go tomorrow," Robinson said.

"It's a small ankle ligament that swells a lot but the stability is fine. If anyone is going to push through a little bit of pain it's Boyd."

Robinson also buried any chance of the club entering into the free agent market before the June 30 deadline, insisting the club was content with its current squad.

"Our squad has been stable for a while now," Robinson said.

"We know where we are headed. Our focus is on tomorrow and then developing over the next month and getting some players back."
