The Under 19’s Women’s State of Origin will head to Leichhardt Oval on Thursday Night, showcasing the up-and-coming talent of women’s rugby league.

Kicking off at 5.45pm on Thursday night, New South Wales will host Queensland on the evening before the Ampol Women’s State of Origin at GIO Stadium on Friday.

The match is set to feature a number of NSW stars from this year’s Tarsha Gale Grand Final including the Roosters' match-winning try-scorer Otesa Pule — who will don maroon for Queensland — as well as Knights Player's Player Jules Kirkpatrick.

The women's clash will be a curtain raiser for the Under 19 men's match which will kick off at 7.45pm at Leichhardt Oval.

New South Wales

Having tasted NRLW experience earlier this year, Chantel Tugaga starts in the back row alongside Leilani Wilson with Rueben Cherrington, the younger sister of Eels star Kennedy Cherrington, named at hooker. Losana Lutu is one to watch at five-eighth after representing NSW City at the recent Women's National Championships.

Queensland

Centre Jasmine Peters and Tweed Seagulls half Jada Ferguson are the two NRLW contracted “marquee” under 20s players who are eligible for the match and will both start in a strong Queensland side. Central Queensland Capras star Emma Paki also starts in the centres with Hannah Larsson, who scored a try in last year's under-19's fixture, set to start in the back row.

Key match-up

Tayla Montgomery (NSW) v Jayde Herdegen (QLD)

The Queensland Under 19 women will be in good hands, guided by Jayde Herdegen who is in the Broncos system. The Queensland Country U17 Captain will bring experience to the side and should open up plenty of opportunity for the outside backs. But with Tarsha Gale Premiership halfback Tayla Montgomery pulling on the sky-blue No. 7 jersey, the class of both halfbacks could prove the difference.
