Penrith will look to claim its first World Club Challenge in the club's history after confirming they will travel to England to face Super League champions Wigan Warriors in February, 2024.

The game will take place at the DW Stadium in Wigan on Saturday 24 February at 8:00pm (Sunday 25 February 7:00am AEDT).

Wigan defeated Catalans Dragons 10-2 in the Super League grand final while the Panthers clinched their third straight title with a win over Brisbane – setting up the annual clash of the champions which was last won by St Helens in 2022.

The 2024 fixture is a repeat of the 1991 clash at Anfield, which saw Wigan triumph 21-4, with the game the Warriors' ninth attempt at becoming World Club Champions, having claimed the title in 1987, 1991, 1993 and 2017.

Australian sides have won seven of the last nine World Club Challenge games.

“The World Club Challenge is such a vital piece of the rugby league calendar and we’re looking forward to contesting the match for a second straight year," said Panthers Rugby League CEO Matt Cameron.

“Wigan are a proud rugby league club that have achieved sustained success for many years, which will give the Panthers an exciting challenge to open the 2024 campaign.”

Ticket details for the game along with details of events leading up to the week will be released shortly. As a result of their World Club Challenge commitments, Penrith will not take part in the NRL's Pre-Season Challenge, which kicks off on February 15 ahead of the start of the 2024 NRL Telstra Premiership season.
