Home to some of Fantasy's best players in recent years, the Panthers are also set to unveil a batch of more budget-friendly prospects in 2024.

Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo and Izack Tago will likely again be popular picks that should rank in the top group of scorers for their respective positions, while Paul Alamoti's move to the foot of the mountains from the Bulldogs means he is a player of interest again after an up-and-down rookie campaign.

Keep an eye too on the middle rotation now that Spencer Leniu has departed, with a cheapie or two – headed up by Liam Henry ($320k) and Ativalu Lisati ($230k) – likely to nail down a spot and potentially generate some real value as the season goes on.

Panthers 2024 NRL Fantasy guide

The big gun

Who else? Nathan Cleary will go toe-to-toe with Nicho Hynes as the top player in Fantasy again this year and outside of his likely involvement in the State of Origin series, he's a set and forget captaincy pick who will probably register at least one triple figure score in 2024. A fair chunk of the attacking stats the Panthers register are either achieved, or set up, by Cleary and then to top it off he kicks goals for the competition's most prolific team. His $1m price tag matches his brilliant ability in Fantasy, but he's a pillar you can build around and he has a super high floor.

The bargain

Paul Alamoti was among the most selected rookies to start 2023 and ultimately failed to fire on the Fantasy front, finishing with a season average of 29.5. But he is joining the NRL's best attacking side after being part of the second-worst last year, which meant he struggled for attacking stats and scored just twice in 19 appearances. Due to the jersey he'll be wearing this time around, the 19-year-old is a good chance of scoring triple that number in 2024, while his demerits should drop a bit in season two as well, especially missed tackles which he had 55 of last year. He will need to beat out Tyrone Peachey for the vacant centre spot, but if he can do that then he's a great CTR option at $407k.

Alamoti returns with a try

Bye round outlook

Rounds 6, 16 and 19. Understandably given the big numbers they provide to the Blues right now, the Panthers don't play in two of three rounds when Origin players are ruled out. That's bad news for Fantasy players, especially those playing for overall points, with Penrith among seven clubs who will miss Rounds 16 and 19. If you're planning to have a few Panthers in your Fantasy team, you need to have a plan for this part of the season to avoid having to field too many red dots or burn through trades.
