Blues halfback Mitchell Moses collected player of the match honours as he made a triumphant return to the Origin arena in the 38-18 thumping of the Maroons at the MCG.

After steering NSW to victory in Game Three last year, the Eels star missed the series opener with a foot injury but was recalled for the do-or-die Game Two and responded in style with an equal Origin-record four try assists.

"It's a good feeling but I thought it was a team performance and I wouldn't have been able to do the things that I did on the field without the forwards laying an outstanding platform and the back five were amazing," Moses told Channel Nine post-match.

"We had a simple game plan, we stuck to it, got to our spots, kicked to the corners and just played simple footy.

"We earned the right to play footy, we defended well first and had some brilliance in our team that could finish off tries."

Player of the Match: Mitchell Moses

Moses pulled the strings early with his kicking game, steering his side to a 34-0 lead at the break to put the game beyond doubt in the first 40 minutes.

Finishing the match with 418 metres from 12 kicks, the Blues No.7 revealed some advice from AFL players helped prepare him for kicking duties at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

"I ask a couple of the other AFL boys before I came down here just what it it's like to kick and they said there's a big swirl around here," Moses said.

Zac Lomax 2nd Try

"So just had to come out early and get a feel for my surroundings and the second half was a bit tougher but we just had to get the job done."

Blues coach Michael Maguire said Moses had given his teammates confidence from the moment he arrived in camp.

"Mitch has come in and did what I believe he is capable of doing and what we all thought he was capable of doing," Maguire said.

"He jumped into the campaign straight up when he first walked in, he was strong with the way he wanted to play the game, but everyone just jumped on board and did their jobs.

"They all just jumped in together and made sure they played their part for the team which is something they have spoken about as a group and what they want to be able to achieve and we have to be able to take that forward now."
