Indigenous Players Camp
The NRL Indigenous Players Camp is a Cultural Leadership Camp that strengthens identity amongst the playing group. Building a strong sense of self-awareness through cultural and community education. Creating confident Indigenous leaders who realise their potential to create positive change in and outside the game.
The camp focuses on
- Career Aspirations and planning- Players will look at different career paths and develop plans aimed at gaining qualifications and experience for when their playing days are finished.
- Mental Wellbeing- Workshop on Mental health and the components of mental wellbeing.
- Participate in cultural practices and history, learning Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island history, dance, innovation and traditional practices.
- Leadership - Develop leadership skills to be utilised in the game, in the club and in community. To help players maximise their potential on and off the field.
The Camp is for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Players in the NRL Full time squads. Each year ranging from 20-60 players.
If you feel players outside this playing group would benefit from the camp please feel free to nominate them.
The camp is for around 40-50 players.
